If You’re Feeling Stressed, Volunteer

At times it may feel like you are running continuously on the treadmill. There are deadlines to follow, people to consult with, and relationships to develop. You may feel constantly stressed, but you don't know how to deal with it. You can always quit your job, but your next job may just be stressful. Stress can be heavy on both body and soul. This can make you tired and make it difficult to concentrate. You may be more susceptible to illness as a result of stress, which can lead to more absenteeism at work. You may be more prone to accidents and feel that you are on edge much of the time.


It can be difficult to decide which organization to apply for. There are many reasons that deserve our attention. For example, there are groups that support people in the event of a disaster ... groups that do research to find cures for debilitating illnesses ... homeless shelters ... soup kitchens ... and animal shelters. You can also consider volunteering at a school where teaching assistants and mentors are always valued. To decide where to use your talents, you can ask yourself a few questions.


Volunteering takes commitment, and you may be wondering if that commitment will bring additional stress to your life. In fact, it is most likely that there will be a way around. If you find that your volunteer work activates you, then you can have a better look at your problems. Knowing the difficulties facing other people can make your problems comparatively insignificant. However, you should make sure that you do not overdo it. Dedicate only limited time to volunteering and resisting the urge to do more.
